Guide

Questions to ask before you hire an AI receptionist

Ask whether it says it's an AI, lets you keep your number, hands off what it can't answer, limits who sees your calls, and lets you try it and cancel. Clinics should also ask whether the company signs a Business Associate Agreement before the first patient call.

Does it say it's an AI?

Callers should know when they are talking to an AI. Ask what the greeting says, and listen to it yourself.

  • Says it's an AI

Kinglet does. The greeting says it's an AI assistant and that the call may be recorded.

See the Security page

Can you keep your number?

Ask whether callers can keep dialing the number they already know, which calls you can send to the AI, and what happens to your number if you leave.

  • Your number stays

With Kinglet, yes. You forward your line for all calls, only missed calls or only after hours. If you leave, turn the forwarding off, and your number rings as it did before.

What happens when it can't answer?

Ask what it does with a question it can't answer, and how urgent calls reach you. Callers shouldn't get stuck.

  • A person when needed

Callers can ask for a person at any time. Kinglet connects them to your staff or takes a message.

  • Hands off with a summary

Urgent calls go to you or your team as a live transfer, following your rules. After every call, your team sees a summary in the dashboard.

Who sees your calls, and how long are they kept?

Ask who can open your recordings and transcripts, how logins are protected, and when things are deleted.

At Kinglet, the people with a login to your account can see your calls. So can our team, to set up, test and watch your agent.

  • One login, one business

Each login only sees your business.

  • Two-step sign-in

Every dashboard login needs a second step after the password, so a password alone can't open your calls.

  • Short keep times

Recordings and transcripts are deleted after 30 days.

Can you try it first, and can you cancel?

Ask to hear it answer your own questions before you pay. Then ask how you cancel, and when billing stops.

Right now Kinglet takes a waitlist. Tell us about your business, and we'll email you when you can start.

  • Hear it free before you pay

Sign up with no card and try your agent on a private trial page. It has 30 free minutes and stays open for 30 days. You pay when you choose Go live.

  • Cancel any time

Cancel from your dashboard. Your plan runs to the end of the month you paid for.

If you're a clinic, will they sign a BAA before patient calls?

If callers share patient information, HIPAA requires a Business Associate Agreement, or BAA, with the company that handles it. Ask whether they sign one before your first patient call, and whether the services they use sign one too.

  • BAA first

We sign a Business Associate Agreement with you before your first patient call. Every service that would handle patient calls signs one with us before then.

  • No patient calls until the checks are done

Clinics can try Kinglet free now. Your agent doesn't take real patient calls until your agreement is signed and our own checks are finished.

  • Patient transcripts

No recording is kept. The transcript is stored encrypted, a log records who opens it, and it's deleted within 90 days.

A little clarity

Good questions. Straight answers.

Will callers know they're talking to AI?

Yes. The greeting says it's an AI assistant and that the call may be recorded.

Who can see my calls?

People with a login to your account, and our team, to set up, test and watch your agent. Each login only sees your business, and every login needs two-step sign-in.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time, from your dashboard. Your plan runs to the end of the month you paid for.

Do I need a BAA for an AI receptionist?

Only if your business handles patient information. If you do, you sign it before your agent goes live. If you don't, you skip that step.
